Making Money with Your CNC Mill.

Wouldn’t it be great to make a few bucks with your CNC mill?  Maybe let the hobby pay for itself?  Now you can.

If you’re willing to write quality gcode, put together a CNC program and do a basic write up, you can sell your plans, kits or complete projects in our eStore.

How it works.

Lets say that you want to make a Stirling Hot Air Engine.  You do come up with a pretty cool design and do all the CAD and CAM work.  When you’re done with your engine you take a few pictures and you send the entire package to us.  We’ll look it over and work with you to make a saleable package.  When everyone is happy with the final product we will put it in our eStore for a price we (you and us) determine to be fair.  When someone buys your design you get a percentage.

Now of course there are options with everything, lets say we (you and us) decide to sell your kit in a few different ways.

In each case your and our cut is determined by how much work each party has to do, the more work you do the more you get and vise versa.  If you only want to sell the plans and code only that’s fine too.  We’re just trying to give individuals who would like to make money with their hobby a venue to do so without a big hassle.

What’s acceptable?

Just about any design that you think would be a good model for the hobbies to make is acceptable.  Models, model engines, replicas miniature or not of whatever, tools and machine accessories are all good choices.

What’s NOT acceptable?

You cannot use any other material that is protected by copyright, patent, or any other legal protection, but because most of these designs have been around for quite a while odds of that are pretty slim.

Do you need to have a CNC mill from Industrial Hobbies?

Of course not.  To be exact the plans need not be CNC at all.  It is preferred but not required.

What about retired persons?

Retired persons are encouraged to give it a try and hopefully we can put a little more money in your pocket.  You might want to take contact your local Social Security office to find out if additional income will affect your benefits another good idea is to take a look at http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10003.html .

So, if you have something that fits the bill and you want to contact us please do, we’re looking forward to hearing from you.
